The gPBL program held at SIT’s Toyosu Campus came to a close with its final presentations on September 17!
The program brought together 172 civil engineering students from Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT), the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Kasetsart University (KU), National Taiwan University (NTU), Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), and Thammasat University (TU), who worked in multinational teams over roughly ten days.
Under the theme “What Holds When the Weather Doesn’t: Comparing How Nations Build Durable Cities — and Proposing a Solution,” students visited disaster-prevention and infrastructure facilities such as the Meteorological Science Museum and the Tokyo Sewerage Museum “Rainbow,” and deepened their discussions through a structural workshop and group work. Cultural exchange activities, including a group photo in yukata among the campus sunflowers, helped strengthen team bonds. At the final presentations, each team compared case studies from their home countries and proposed solutions for building resilient cities, bringing the program to a vibrant, international close. We hope the connections formed here will continue to enrich the students’ future studies and careers.
