As part of a joint research project, two students from our GEL-SIT visited the site of a power line tower foundation using the deep foundation method in Sunto-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture, in cooperation with our joint research partner. The site is located near the top of a mountain that is not maintained for steel tower foundations, and the visit was a rare opportunity for the students to see the site that they would not normally be able to visit. The participating students were able to gain a deep understanding of the overall construction method through this site visit, and were able to deepen their understanding of aspects of the method that they had not been able to imagine in their previous research.
